John Lennon was taken here after being shot.

A family member had surgery on 8/29. There was a rush for discharge without initially having her recover!!! The nurses were not attentive and did not inform the family that the patient was awake. Her obgyn doctor only would speak to a family member via phone with out any face to face contact while I observe other doctors speaking with family members after surgery. The bathroom was not cleaned until late pm. Would not recommend bu I have to say thank you to the last nurse that did the discharge.

I been here previously and the service wasn’t that terrible, but it’s annoying when you are sick and you can’t go to work because you are in pain and you come to this place and they call somone who walks in 40 minutes after you and ontop of that give your wrist band to somone else. They remove that wrist band and gave it to me to hold it lol. Put me in a room do various test and after 8 hours they told me I didn’t have nothing ( that’s not to mention I had 103.7 fever and pus on my throat (sorry didn’t mean to be graphic ) and told me I was good to go home tried giving me Motrin like I don’t have that at home and I got send home seem the doctor only once. Good luck if you come here.

it’s the worst. nurses don’t really pay attention. it takes HOURS to get attended by the doctors . they work super slow. not the cleanest also.

I brought my mother to the emergency room here as directed by her doctor who works out of Mount Sinai. The emergency room was so packed that she sat in the hallway on a bed for 19 hours. Then they brought her to a curtain-ed off section where we continue to wait, going on 24 hours. Each nurse has so many patients, I don’t know how they’re still standing. You have your wonderful, attentive nurses and doctors and then you have your not so wonderful nurses and doctors.Cleanliness is definitely not where it should be for a hospital setting but that’s due to how overcrowded it is. The two stars are for one exceptional nurse and doctor who helped me in the ER even though my mother wasn’t their patient.

Mount Sinai west has the best surgeons in the city and I have had surgery at almost every major hospital in NYC.My surgery was August 6th After my surgery the anesthesiologists communicated with me and answered all of my questions. The nurses gave me a walker to go home with after surgery which was so nice! I was shocked! There are a few downsides. First the room you wait before you get surgery has 2 LOCKED bathrooms that are unoccupied. The employees at the desk had no answers about that or any alternative locations for bathrooms.Second there are paintings of bloody surgeries outside of the room where patients check in. It is frightening! What message are they trying to give by showing you bloody paintings before heading into surgery. What's up with that? Third it is chaos in there. Employees fighting in front of me ,the patient. This nurse, I think her name was Denise was attacking the anesthesiologist I think her name was Jamie. There was no reason for that! Jamie was so nice too.The nurse was nice to me but was really attacking the anesthesiologist and would not stop or let her talk to me much before surgery. Everyone was making it into a HUGE deal to talk to me. One of the questions that nobody would answer is if it was safe for me to have surgery after stopping blood thinners for one week I wanted to wait 2 weeks. Nobody answered me and went ahead with the surgery and i Some bleeding could have been avoided if they spoke to me ahead of time. It turned out to be okay but still could have been avoided. Also at other hospitals the PA's do everything but surgery. At Mount Sinai the surgeons have to do everything. The surgeon did not complain to me. I just think it over loads the surgeon and I would want my surgeon to focus on surgery and not to answer a bunch of questions that any PA can answer. Also the bed they had me on was mad dirty. Sheets that seemed to not have been washed in a very long time! The pre surgery staff gave me the wrong address. The security at the front desk said they do that all the time! The registration was chaotic as well with no working bathrooms no organization and it is not a calm atmosphere before surgery. But the surgeon is world class which is the reason for 4 stars!

I was sent there from an affiliated urgent care facility and upon arrival they could not find the paper work sent from the urgent care and the triage nurse main concern was getting to approve an HIV screen? For what ???? So after being admitted and being there for 2 weeks to get a staph infection on my leg worked on , I was moved to an isolated room with no warning or reason. I found out why i was being moved because of the night shift nurse. The unsanitary conditions caused my staph to develop to a MRSA infection . After 2 weeks of constant blood work they find the superbug? What drove me to transfer to another hospital was when they brought in a team of surgeons to discuss possible amputation of my leg .

Horrible wait. Avoid this place. Healthcare in US is a joke. They took almost 4 hours to do basically nothing.

Unreliable Hospital We arrived at 1000 W 58th for my mothers scheduled surgery. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk but a sign in sheet, I printed my mothers name and we had a seat. Since it didn’t look busy and then I saw someone go to the front desk and ignored the sign in sheet, I decided to go check in. Turns out she was not scheduled at that location, but another Mount Sinai location further uptown. Immediately I felt like my mom misunderstood the instructions that were given to her 4 days before the surgery. Originally they had told my brother they would call him with instructions since he attended her blood work visit, which they never did. We leave to arrive at 1111 114th Amsterdam ave. We arrived at 10:39 upon check in the reception had my mothers information since the other location called to inform them she was on route, but she looked puzzled. Turns out she was originally scheduled at the other location and then canceled but the system never change it (excuses) so my mother did not misunderstand her instructions she did what they told her arrive at west 58! It took them 2 hours to registered her in admissions “system error problem” she was not on there schedule either! At 12:50pm she was called to prep for surgery which started at 1:20, while prepping her only one Doctor introduced himself as johnathan shook my hand and said “sorry for the Mount Sinai tour you were on” the head surgeon Dr Dabney arrived shortly after never introduced herself to me or my mom. The attending fellow student Doctor was doing all the talking, I was told I will be called after surgery by numerous people. That never happened. Surgery was completed by 3:30 at 5pm the front desk was called and we were told we could go see her. I would never go to Mount Sinai for anything ever! or let anyone in my family be there if I could help it. Thank God for my awesome Doctors at NYULANGONE.
