Unreliable Hospital We arrived at 1000 W 58th for my mothers scheduled surgery. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk but a sign in sheet, I printed my mothers name and we had a seat. Since it didn’t look busy and then I saw someone go to the front desk and ignored the sign in sheet, I decided to go check in. Turns out she was not scheduled at that location, but another Mount Sinai location further uptown. Immediately I felt like my mom misunderstood the instructions that were given to her 4 days before the surgery. Originally they had told my brother they would call him with instructions since he attended her blood work visit, which they never did. We leave to arrive at 1111 114th Amsterdam ave. We arrived at 10:39 upon check in the reception had my mothers information since the other location called to inform them she was on route, but she looked puzzled. Turns out she was originally scheduled at the other location and then canceled but the system never change it (excuses) so my mother did not misunderstand her instructions she did what they told her arrive at west 58! It took them 2 hours to registered her in admissions “system error problem” she was not on there schedule either! At 12:50pm she was called to prep for surgery which started at 1:20, while prepping her only one Doctor introduced himself as johnathan shook my hand and said “sorry for the Mount Sinai tour you were on” the head surgeon Dr Dabney arrived shortly after never introduced herself to me or my mom. The attending fellow student Doctor was doing all the talking, I was told I will be called after surgery by numerous people. That never happened. Surgery was completed by 3:30 at 5pm the front desk was called and we were told we could go see her. I would never go to Mount Sinai for anything ever! or let anyone in my family be there if I could help it. Thank God for my awesome Doctors at NYULANGONE.
