Best on the outer banks! Always rent a beach house for our summer vacation from Twiddy and have never been disappointed

Twiddy is horrible. They have no right claiming high quality properties and good customer service. We rented Groovy Dunes based on beautiful pictures that were clearly taken many years ago. This was evident when we saw different furniture and rugs in the house from the website pictures (and the current furniture and rugs are even very old). The list of problems seemed to never end (see below). We paid a lot of money for this rental and after relaying a long list of unacceptable problems, Twiddy offered us a small pittance of refund, a small credit (which we will never use) and lots of excuses. One of the repair men that they sent out (a contractor) revealed to us that they have a long list of repairs and they are not being addressed. Twiddy acted surprised when we gave them the list (very deceitful). The property we rented was in such disrepair that any agency claiming to have high standards should never allow this to be rented.• The stove was broken• The control panel on one of the hot tubs was broken• Only half of the jets on the second hot tub worked• One of the dishwashers would not close (had to put a chair against it to keep it closed and to run it).• There were at least 30 light bulbs out throughout the house.• None of the lights around the pool worked.• One of the windows would not close all the way and the open space was sealed with duct tape.• The sliding door on the first floor to go to the pool would not lock.• The build-up of bugs on the windows and base of the sliding doors was disgusting. The house in general did not seem very clean and there were stains on the furniture and rugs. The dining area rug was curled up on the ends and dirty.• The dunes were eroded (only house on the beach with that problem) and so the gate out of the pool area to the beach would not close because of sand build up. We could not use the stairs to the beach and had to climb the sand underneath to get to the beach (very difficult for older people).• There were broken chairs buried in the sand at the base of the stairs to the beach.• The pool had a ridiculous amount of sand in it when we arrived which indicated it had not been maintained for some time. They sent a pool person to vacuum it at our request which addressed the issue. He also tried to fix the hot tubs (and could not) and told us that Twiddy has a long list of issues and that the pool company was ready to drop them. The pool company has also recommended replacing both hot tubs and he said Twiddy/Owners won’t do it.There is more, but hopefully you get the idea… They offered us a $315 refund which equates to the services fee ($190) and $125 from the owner. Seriously?!!! (... and it’s so much more than a services issue). Don’t rent from Twiddy and certainly don’t rent “Groovy Dunes” property.Jim F

We arrived on Sunday for our check in to The Salty Dog. Unfortunately our stay has been less than satisfactory. Upon our arrival we waited outside of the house because the cleaners were still in the house cleaning until after 4pm. There was supposed to be travel toiletries in the bathrooms and there were none. There is not a broom or a vacuum to be found in the house anywhere. The furnishings in the main living room are soiled and stained. The pool was filthy -debris, dead crabs, scummy film on top and clearly had not been cleaned. The hot tub also had sand all in it and had also clearly not been cleaned. Cigarette butts on all the decks, around the pool, flies in the house and dead bugs covering all of the windows and sliding doors. First thing Tuesday morning the air conditioning stopped working and we called immediately and left messages before Twiddy even opened. We called back to speak to someone after opening time and were told someone would be here before lunch to check on it and We needed to be near the house because the Workman wouldn’t come in without us home since we had dogs. The Workman - a Twiddy employee finally showed up at 2pm and then said he couldn’t fix it that someone else would have to be called. The next air person came around 4pm and also couldn’t fix it. After 5pm another air company and Twiddy showed up - this air person said he could fix it but it would be the next day. The Twiddy employee came to install 2 window air units. So one whole day of vacation burned. The next day, we were told the air guy would be back around lunch to fix it and we needed to be at the house again because of the dogs ( 2 14.5 year old miniature dachshunds 8 and 10 lbs each). They came, they fixed it, we left to try to recover from the 1.5 days out 6 that we had lost due to these issues. We came home last night and walked up to the entry door and it was standing WIDE OPEN. We had been gone for about 7 hours. We were scared to death and concerned about our dogs. My husband checked the house and thankfully no one was in the house and our dogs were still there BUT the two window units were the Twiddy had installed were gone. So after telling us that no one would enter the house without us being there because of the dogs Twiddy entered the house without us there and without notifying us to remove the ac units and left the door standing wide open for god knows how many hours. I am sick just thinking about what could have happened and am grateful that it didn’t. I am extremely disappointed and displeased with this experience and the recklessness exhibited. We have called numerous times and have not received a satisfactory response to date. After no response and then posting on their Facebook page they said they were “researching the issue” and would have a manager reach out to us. It is now 2 full days later and not a word from anyone at Twiddy. Our vacation was ruined because of their actions. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering renting from Twiddy look elsewhere. What really counts is how a company handles an issue when it arises and works to resolve it quickly. Twiddy’s actions were downright negligent and they seem to not even care.
