I have used Phillips Tax Services for my business and personal needs for more than 10yrs. We live in Omaha but feel the drive to Phillips Tax is well worth it. (Recommended by a financial advisor from Lincoln 10 plus years ago - Good Advice)Gary and his team truly understand customer service and professional support.....because they care about getting it right plus always make us feel welcome when we get to the beautiful office in downtown GI. Gary has supported us with not only our tax work but he has also assisted us with our business set up and other financial needs. I am highly recommending Gary and his team every chance I get!!

It’s been more than 10 years ago that I walked into Gary’s office with a tax mess in my hands. I had trusted the wrong person with my personal and business accounts that had left me needing to find an accountant with patience and knowledge. Gary was that man. Gary was great at responding to the IRS on my behalf repeatedly. Each time he explained to me the information he needed to provide the IRS and why. It was a difficult mess, but he stayed the course with me. The IRS now has all the information they need and I have peace of mind. In a time in my life when I didn’t trust anyone, Gary allowed me to sit and watch him and one of his employees as they completed my monthly work. Their patience with me taught me that I could trust again. I continue to trust Gary with my taxes and financial questions. I’d recommend him and his professional staff as a great resource to anyone for both personal and business tax guidance.

Really good guy to work with. He takes the time to answer any questions you may have and shows you everything before it’s submitted. Once it’s all done you’ll get a very professional looking folder with everything that was sent in for that tax year. Highly recommend.

When I decided to start my own business more than 10 years ago, a successful older friend and mentor told me my three most important decisions would be on an accountant, banker and lawyer. I thought he was old school and decided Google and I could probably figure out most of this stuff on our own. I could not have been more wrong.I wasted a lot of time (years!) and money before I surrounded myself with a team that included people like Gary and his team at Phillips Tax. The fact is that if you are going to stick your neck out and build a business, nothing is more important than accounting. Without help, you can waste a ton of time trying to setup Quickbooks the right way. You also have to understand your FICA and sales tax obligations. Even more important, you need to have a reporting and tracking system in place to grow and keep any suppliers/creditors happy so that you can expand.Gary and his team are the kind of people you can trust when you sit down and share your business goals and dreams. Trust me, you don't need to be an expert at everything. Let them help you put together a great set of books so that you can focus on whatever led you to start your business in the first place. I am guessing it probably wasn't accounting, anyway :-).

I was audited by the IRS (statement from the IRS auditor Mr Vue) because my daughters W2 was added onto my taxes. What CPA makes such a simple mistake? I specifically went to Phillips so my taxes would not be done incorrectly because of my rental unit. And what did I get? An amateur mistake. Then Gary tells me we can amend the return, just bring it in. My statement-- that doesn't stop the audit...and why would I trust you to do the amendment correctly? I did tell Katy it was my daughters W2, Katy did tell me my daughter had to file her own taxes at which point I said I added her to my taxes last year and so did my parents when I was working. She left it, added it to my taxes, and I was audited because they let the customer tell them how to do the taxes. Not very impressed. Not very impressed by how defensive he became, not very impressed by the comment when I first came to them with the IRS letter that three other people had received the same letters, not very impressed by how he made this my issue and not theirs. If I could give negative stars I would because apparently only me and Phillps Tax Services are the only ones that don't know that minors have to do their own taxes.
