I was audited by the IRS (statement from the IRS auditor Mr Vue) because my daughters W2 was added onto my taxes. What CPA makes such a simple mistake? I specifically went to Phillips so my taxes would not be done incorrectly because of my rental unit. And what did I get? An amateur mistake. Then Gary tells me we can amend the return, just bring it in. My statement-- that doesn't stop the audit...and why would I trust you to do the amendment correctly? I did tell Katy it was my daughters W2, Katy did tell me my daughter had to file her own taxes at which point I said I added her to my taxes last year and so did my parents when I was working. She left it, added it to my taxes, and I was audited because they let the customer tell them how to do the taxes. Not very impressed. Not very impressed by how defensive he became, not very impressed by the comment when I first came to them with the IRS letter that three other people had received the same letters, not very impressed by how he made this my issue and not theirs. If I could give negative stars I would because apparently only me and Phillps Tax Services are the only ones that don't know that minors have to do their own taxes.
