Client Review on Quest Diagnostics Zephyrhills

Feedback:

I had to have a 3 hour glucose test done, so I was in the office for quite a while. Here are a few observations I made:1. They are a super busy place! It was a constant stream of people in and out. Even so, I didn’t see anyone wait longer than 15 minutes. I did hear someone mention that they had been there the day before and the place was packed, and as they take walk-ins, I’m sure they have days with long waits. 2. There is no secretary or intake person. Instead there is an iPad type device you sign in on and then when they call you they figure everything out and take care of what you need. I know for many, especially the older generations, this is a major faux paux. The reassurance of talking to a person is certainly missed. But this is a chain company. We get sent there because our insurance can get These tests done quickly and cheaply. I would rather check in on a little device and have all of their employees working with patients to keep wait times short, than have someone take my name and answer little questions here and there and more or less sit around waiting to be useful. 3. A lot of people can be very grumpy and rude. If I had a dollar for every time I heard “things just aren’t how they used to be” I’d be rich. Frankly, no one goes to these labs for a good time. We are all stressed, a little scared, maybe even embarrassed of what we have to go through. So that anxiety and frustration is often vented in the waiting room—which can be heard in the back—or taken out on the poor nurses. They take it in stride, but I felt for them. I think the conclusion I came to is, yeah, it’s a bit impersonal and more of a machine than a treatment center, but that’s what it is supposed to be. The nurses are working non-stop with a constant stream of new patients, trying to stay on top of all the critical information (insurance, which tests are needed, where to send the results, etc.), and do their jobs in a timely manner. Many of us go in and are out within the hour. We may not see the whole picture of what they are working with and why those procedures are so important. I, for one, am thankful they were still so kind and compassionate with me while dealing with everything else they had going on.
