I had a month lapse in my daughters health insurance. She needed to have a test run so our physician's office called around to see which local lab was the most cost effective. Quest quoted my physician $80 for the test. We dropped off the sample (for which we had to wait over an hour) at which time I paid the quoted amount $80... but a week later we received an invoice for an additional $160 due. I called to dispute but the person said I had no recourse unless the doctor had a written quote from Quest, which they did not. I feel this is very unethical to quote the doctors office and then charge me three times the amount. I will make a conscious effort from this point forward to choose a different company now that our insurance has been restored!
