Wow, where to begin. I had gotten a recommendation for Mohs from an acquaintance, so I took some of the initial impressions as a way for them to keep expenses down, but learned that sometimes you get what you pay for. To begin with, I had submitted a request via their website and got a response from a hotmail account. To me, a business that uses a hotmail account is only a step above one that uses a comcast account, and makes me wonder if I have to travel back to the 90's to work with them. On top of that, it turns out that they only have one email account for all of the people that work there and they literally print out emails and put them on the desk of the intended recipient. When I showed up and started working with the person assigned to prepare my taxes, I started telling them about some paperwork that I needed to file for my business to achieve the proper status federally and they had no clue what I was talking about, so it turned into him leaving me at his desk to ask questions several times before finally taking me to another person to handle the business taxes. After that was finished, I had to go back to him to finish off the personal taxes. At this point, I was mildly annoyed, but okay. I had some questions about how much I could put away for retirement and explained my situation and he told me a course of action to pursue and I was on my way. When I tried to deposit the amount discussed into the accounts we talked about, it turned out that that was the wrong type of account. Here is where things went from mild annoyance to poor customer experience. I tried to get in touch with the guy, but since the tax season had ended, he only worked one day a week, and the first week he didn't come into the office because an appointment had cancelled (even though they knew I had requested some help and to see him). When he finally got back to me, he simply re-stated the issue that I had previously laid out and didn't offer any help or course of action to correct the issue. Needless to say, I asked for an electronic copy of my filings (which they realistically should have sent me automatically in the first place), and found another company that could help me and would actually offer timely and helpful responses when I reach out with questions. I would say that anyone that can be helped by Mohs Tax Service, can likely just use Turbo Tax and save themselves time, money, and hassle.
