Client Review on Mccausland, Inc.
Feedback:
In late November 2018, I spoke to "John", Chad Boonswang's assistant. I explained my legal matter to him and he gave me a high-pressure pitch as to why I should use the Boonswang firm. On Nov 29, 2018 he sent me a contract indicating a 25% contingent fee which I did not sign. I called back a few days later and spoke to Chad directly. After going over details of my case and discussing the contingent fee, he agreed to take 12% for strictly going after the insurance company. Within a few hours, a new contract was emailed to me from Chad himself, with a 15% fee indicated on the contract. I immediately wrote Chad reminding him that we had just agreed on the phone to a 12% fee, not 15% and I also addressed a few other things in the contract, such as the "extras" that they can charge for but omit the dollar amounts for those charges (copying, phone calls, gas, etc...) I asked that the extras be included in the 12% fee and be indicated as such in the contract. I also asked about the clause that states that in the event we win the case, the monies, minus their 15% fee, will be deposited into my account. I asked that a time frame be included for that deposit to be made, such as "within 48 hours the monies will be deposited into my account." I voiced my concern that without a specific timeline, they could legally hold the monies for a month or longer. That email was sent to Chad Dec 4, 2018 and I did not hear back from him despite me writing two follow-up emails asking for an update.Today, Jan 17, 2019, I called and spoke to Chad. He remembered me and my case and said that he never agreed to 12 or 15%. I told him that he did and he said, "Whatever is discussed verbally doesn't matter. What matters is what's in the contract and I would never agree to anything less than 25%." I then read HIS contract aloud to him, which clearly said 15%.He fumbled a bit for words and then said that he would not honor the contract (that he sent to me from his email) and that he was going to have John revoke it. So despite Chad Boonswang agreeing on the phone that he would accept 12% as a contingent fee, then sending me a contract that said 15%, and after he said today that he would only honor what was in writing (in this case, 15%), he then changed his mind within seconds and reneged on our agreement. This man is shady, greedy and dishonest. He agreed to 12% on the phone. I have a witness who heard the entire conversation. He sent a contract for 15% (3% more than our agreed upon percentage) and then refuses to even honor the 15% saying that he would have never agreed to that low percentage (despite me having it in writing from Chad's own email.) I think this guy is a swindler and people should read very carefully any contract they sign with him. He is a scammer who gives good lawyers a bad name.
