We should have noticed the “F” with the Better Business Bureau. He can’t say I gave him a box of uncategorized receipts, because I created a spreadsheet that took time and was detailed and lengthy, which our original, wonderful accountant, Dave Hopkins introduced us to. This final year, 2018 taxes, was the last straw. He blames faulty software program as to why our taxes were not turned in on time, and being fined by the IRS for $200, he blames his father being sick, he blames his baby being born early and not having enough time with him, it goes on and on. He said he would take care of it... a day before our fine was due, I reached out, HE didn’t... before Easter we were asking to talk with him and was avoided. That is why this was not a software error, why avoid your customers and deny them of your time, your customers of years, if it wasn’t even your fault and you had every intention of making it right. Because he has no intention and he didn’t make it right. We took care of the fine even though he was paid in full by us. I paid my personal taxes $200 and our business taxes $250 but we did not receive the service we paid for. One local business trying to support another, this was not a good idea for us, sadly we could see the signs of how different his ethics were from Dave Hopkins and should have left and found a CPA long ago. Lesson learned, please beware. I have copies of emails and even Facebook messages where we pleaded for contact and he had excuse after excuse. His poor receptionists even said “ believe me, we give him messages and we don’t know what to say, if I didn’t need this job, I wouldn’t be here! Trust me!” That’s pretty sad. Being a small business in Seville, we know how to treat our customers, when we fall short or there is any sort of issue, be it our fault or another’s, excuses NEVER help.... communication and reassurance DOES. I’m not sure if his father will ever be back in business with Joshua Carey, but they are not associates, Joshua is the only one that can make decisions and is the only one to go to, and when he is NEVER available, my god, I guess there’s no hope. Please read the BBB complaints, they are so close to my personal experiences with this company, this is NOT a one time issue or occurrence. Please beware.
