Action Employers really set itself apart from the pack from the very beginning in how warm, welcoming, genuine and authentic they are. I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from an actual human being (!) after I submitted my resume online, asking if I could speak on the phone. I was running errands and so had to schedule for the next business day--and then I couldn't remember the exact time we'd scheduled for because I hadn't written it down! Pierre was super-understanding and let me know what time we were supposed to speak when I reached out to him on LinkedIn.After a short phone conversation gauging my availability, interests and the areas that I was willing to work in, I was invited in to the office to talk with Pierre in person.Oh my God, let me tell you, if parking in downtown Portland is difficult, imagine you're driving in for the first time since high school, which was the last time you lived in Oregon. Yeah. Not pretty. I ended up being late for the meeting because I ended up having to park a few blocks away from the office and hadn't accounted for extra "accident" time. By the time I got to the office I was out of breath and so, so anxious!Tracy, the receptionist/office administrator, immediately noticed my distress, and put me at ease saying it wasn't a big deal, things like that happened, and handed me a bottle of water which I REALLY appreciated after jogging through the 31 degrees Celsius weather in a black cotton dress. After filling out some paper work, I got to meet Pierre, the star of the show, who went out of his way to assure me that he understood a first time drive into downtown can be daunting, and that I shouldn't worry. Whew! That was a load off my mind! I'd been feeling really guilty but Pierre and Tracy really set me at ease, which was great of them.Right from the beginning, I got the vibe that this was going to be different from the other talks with recruiters I'd had. So far my experiences with recruiters had been of a curt, impersonal "you are a number to me" kind of attitude, and I won't lie, that hurts. Job searching can make you feel really vulnerable, and something as small as a recruiter broadcasting disinterest and annoyance can make you feel insignificant when before you might have shrugged it off. That's why I was so happy to find that Pierre is a genuinely helpful and authentic soul. I could tell I had found a real advocate in him. Finally, I felt like a human being talking to another human being, a caring, authentic, professional one at that. He really dug deep for my strengths and passions, and was great at translating my experiences into transferable skills, which is an essential skill for any recruiter worth their salt to have. While talking to him I was really having a conversation, an informative conversation but definitely not an interrogation, which is the mark of a skilled interviewer: He put me at ease and teased my life stories out of me so that he could sell me as a candidate to his clients in the most authentic way possible.I've only talked to him yesterday, but already I feel so much more hopeful about my job search process and feel a pep in my walk that wasn't there before. I'm very grateful to everyone at Action Employment who made my first significant foray into the world of staffing agencies such a positive and empowering one.I'll update the review as the process further unfurls, but I'm already sure it'll be a pleasant journey.

I tried two different staffing agencies before I came to Action. The first one forgot who I was when I called and had all of my information wrong. The second one felt very impersonal and felt like they were just trying to place people wherever as quickly as possible.When I interviewed with Action, Jordan was very friendly and charming. She gauged my personality quickly and although I had come in for one position, she immediately realized it wouldn't be a good fit. Instead of saying she would call me when she found something else, she thought of another position right then and there and described why she thought I would be a good fit. When I left, she emailed me promptly all of the information I needed to get started. When I had my interview with the company, she emailed me right before and said good luck and called me a few hours later to say I had the job and she sounded genuinely excited for me.Action was quick, personable, and friendly. When Jordan left, Amelia took over and was just as friendly and helpful! When I finally met Mary Anne, she welcomed me into her office and chatted with me a bit. Tracy takes care of all of the checks and she is quick to remind you to turn in your time card if you forget! Very helpful!I now have a permanent position at a company I am happy with because of their efforts. If you want a friendly staff, great experience, and to find a job in less than a month, Action is the way to go!

An EXTREMELY catty office. I was sent to 1 interview, I declined; it was a 1+ hr drive. They never contacted me or returned my calls after that. Should have known when it took them 2 weeks to reach out after initial meeting. They asked for my resume all over again.

A little over a month after first meeting with Marianne at Action, I have a full-time job that fits me well. I worked with a few employment agencies and Action was easily the most helpful. Marianne was enthusiastic and kept in communication during the whole process. Highly recommended.

I would recommend Action Employment to anyone! I was treated with kindness and respect since the very moment we were in touch. More importantly, they really dialed in to connect me to the right employer. They asked a lot of questions and placed me in the right career path. The entire staff is supportive and eager to see me succeed! After placing me on a job, they called regularly to see how things were going. I have had the best support system there! I am extremely happy with where they placed me, and am now there permanently with so much room for growth. Job-hunting is a soul sucking experiment in futility from the constant searching to no responses to finally the interview process. Insert employment agencies. How many times have you met with an agency and never heard from them again? That was my experience also before I found Action Employment Services.Action Employment Services is the first agency that I have ever worked with that maintained communication from the first interview to through my contract position to hire. I met one of the best recruiters around. He asked me all of the right questions in our first meeting the most important being what I was looking for in my next job, namely a career position. Each position he sent to me where all exactly that with solid, growing companies. They were positions that I was excited about and could not wait to interview for. He always provided me with the company, a point of contact, job descriptions, and background on the company and the position. With his information and my own research, I felt extremely prepared for each interview and there were several over a few month period. After each interview, we spoke and he gave me feedback from his POC with each company. He never stopped searching for me and when there was nothing in his pipeline for me, he still maintained contact, which is just amazing. Until that great day when my recruiter received a golden opportunity for me. I got the job and it is perfect!
