Client Review on 1-Call Staffing

Feedback:

A terrible experience even by low standards and very rude office workers. I found them through an ad on Craigslist regarding what appeared to be a vanilla warehouse role. They sugar coated their behavior and the job description up through two in-persons, a background test, and drug screen before actually filling me in during "orientation" on the company Firetrace and a horribly written list of disrespectful, antisocial, and demanding policies. I was willing to consider looking past their no talking / no work/life balance leaflet, with some disappointment in seeing little potential beyond poor filler work. They also apparently overbooked the first day, as I was told to pack a lunch but their client wasn't prepared to take on another employee and it was unclear when they would be able to. No apologies were given to my recollection. These failures set off red flags, but I still chose to be patient with them.A potential showstopper clause about their client reserving the right to search at anytime caught my eye afterwards, however, so I called up the front office to inquire, not recalling having signed any sort of waiver. I could not receive a direct answer as to legal precedent for a business forcibly conducting searches on its employees, and could not receive a direct answer on my rights were I to refuse such an attempt or what would actually constitute a search. I fell back to simpler yes or no questions, which were also evaded. Forced search by a business would to my understanding violate legal rights that not even police can trample upon without legal precedent. The more I sought clarification, the more irritable the office became that I was "reading too much into it" and "it's never been a problem". If it potentially violates my legal rights, then it certainly is a problem, especially when your client does not appear to treat employees well in the first place. It's doubly problematic if the contracting agency you're going through endorses it.Overall, I feel 1-Call's employees were highly unprofessional. I was interrupted and put on hold repeatedly over the phone, their grasp of English seemed tenuous, and their ability to follow through and attitude for resolving problems just didn't feel existent. I simply wanted to know my rights concerning forced searches should their client attempt it for who knows why, and why such a right is claimed on the "supplimental" leaflet if there is no legal precedent to exercise it. For those who desperately need income, agencies like this may be among the final options, but beyond a certain point, there are clearly toxic ones among them. Personally, I would not choose to seek business again with either Rosemary, 1-Call, or their client Firetrace. A show of anger and evasion from one of the office workers when I merely sought clarification on a legal issue might suggest that the ethics of this company and/or their client may need to be reviewed by proper authorities.
