I’ve flown into and out of dozens of airports all around the country and the world and this has to be one of the worst. There is so much bad here that it’s hard to know where to start. I landed at 9pm on Friday and was immediately struck by the blandness and lame color schemes. For a supposedly cool city, the airport is extremely dated. At the ground transportation area, there were no obvious signs for the rental car shuttle. I asked a guy and he pointed to a tiny sign all the way at the end. When I got there I was struck by the fact that for a busy Friday night at a major airport, there were ZERO shuttles in the vehicle mix - rental car shuttles or otherwise. After about 10 minutes one finally showed up, and then after they packed it to capacity and no one else was showing up, we waited about 5 more minutes while the driver chatted with his buddies on the sidewalk. I thought some of the other bus passengers were going to riot. We rode forever and finally got to the re two car center, a weird building with restrooms down this skinny corridor that seemed to be added to the edge of the building as an afterthought. The rental car experience was a disaster too, but that’s not directly on the airport so I’ll spare this review that story. Flying back out on Sunday, the return rental car shuttle was equally a pain (seriously, airport, buy a few more busses!!). The TSA area is laid out INCREDIBLY poorly. The check in, undress/bin area and the scanners are all jammed together and the layout is such that after you drop your stuff you have to wade through all the other lines to get to the scanner. Only a government agency could have designed this poop show! (See pictures )Plus, their nifty bin return system won’t pause to let you gather your stuff. It just keeps sucking your bin to the black hole at the end of the conveyor. To top it all off, no working charging outlets in this area. Apparently no one in Seattle believes in portable electronics...
