Disappointed. I realize we are new clients and that we aren't nearly as important as long-term clients, but we needed your help in a timely fashion. It was off season, we get that, but we really needed help when we came to you. In all fairness, they did respond, eventually. As we had already found an additional resource to assist us with a resolution to our immediate need, I have not responded.

Mary was referred to us by a co-worker who had used her tax services for years with her husband's business. We have found Mary to be be knowledgeable and very helpful when we have questions and will refer her to others as well.

DO NOT USE THEM, if I could have given them a ZERO I would have. My tax return was supposedly submitted prior to the April deadline, but when I did not receive my return I called it was never submitted or was kicked back, so they submitted it again in May. June- I still have not received my tax return, so I called and the submission did not go through AGAIN. I am still waiting and I missed a great opportunity on a cruise because they did not do their do diligence.

Had been a client for years. This past tax year was horrible. We signed everything and paid in full. Come to find out from the IRS that our return was never filed on-time. We now have to pay a late filing fee and they won't take responsibility. We are out hundreds of dollars and Rky Mountain Tax doesn't care. They had time to cash our check, but no time to file our return on time. Best yet, IRS considers Rocky Mountain Tax off the hook.

I am thoroughly impressed with the level of professionalism and service provided at RMTAS! My taxes were done in a timely manner and all of my (numerous) questions were answered. They took the time to thoroughly review the information for my business and maximized my refund. Highly recommended.

We had our 2013 tax return done by Mary at RMTAS. She offered to do a complimentary end of year 'pre-tax' review in December 2013 which we accepted. We had hoped for a refund, but when Mary gave us an estimate of what our tax return would be - ouch - we had to pay instead... A LOT! Bummer. But at least we were prepared a few months ahead of time. A couple of months later, we lodged our 2013 tax docs with Mary who took twice as long to process as promised - I had to keep following up with her... her communication skills are not the best. Eventually it was completed - and we learned our tax bill due to the IRS was DOUBLE what she had estimated in December, with no explanation. When we went to see her about it and ask why, all Mary said was "Oh, I missed XYZ". Completely unfazed, no apology. We are talking about an error in the thousands here, not just a few hundred. Needless to say, we were extremely unimpressed - not only by her inaccuracy but also her attitude and lack of professionalism and poor communication.Additionally, at the time of our 'pre-tax' consult, we had asked Mary for advice on some changes we were planning to make to our living/business situation and regarding a large purchase - to get clarity on what tax deductible, what was not. She gave us 'the green light' so we made a large financial decision based on Mary's advice... which, we have come to learn through another accountant, is incorrect. Financially, the picture is NOT as she painted it.Finally, as we have been traveling throughout 2014, I had emailed Mary in Dember 2014 to ask her to email a digital copy of our 2013 tax return as I didn't have the hard copy with me. Now, in March 2015, I am still waiting - I have since given up on following up.I am not quite sure what has happened with this business in the last couple of years... it seems they used to be OK (based on our friend who had used them for some time) but they seem to have gone downhill quite dramatically (even my friend is unhappy now), they have laid off their staff, moved location and still don't return calls, emails. Another business owner I know who used them has had an even worse experience than ours (no return communication, incorrect advice, not filing docs with the IRS, incurring late fees)... so hearing her story (which I know to be true and not an exaggeration), I feel we got off pretty lightly!Needless to say, we won't be having our 2014 tax return - or anything else - done by RMTAS. I would have serious reservations about leaving any confidential info with them, as I could not be confident we would ever hear back, or if they will even remain in business. Having a reliable accountant whose word and accurate work you can trust is paramount. Sadly, RMTAS does little to inspire confidence that your private and confidential financial information is in good, safe hands and that you'll be getting the right advice.Final word...I rarely post negative reviews on businesses... I am not by nature a complainer, and I generally find I have good experiences - perhaps because I do my research first. In this case, I should have shopped around some more. I only hope that this review will help someone else in their search for a good accountant - they are not easy to find!
