Overall Feedback:
First let me say that I've used Engleson and Capell Accounting services for 25+ years with no problems. BUT, when they merged with Platform Tax the service declined to my detriment to the tune of $900.00+ in fines and penalties from the IRS and the Idaho State Tax Commission.I took my tax info in at the end of March when I finally received my capital gains statement from Wells Fargo. I know this was late and I was expecting Platform to file an extension to do the tax prep.I called around April 15th and was told that an extension was filed. Called again in May to see how things were going and they didn't know who I was and that they couldn't find my tax info. They called the next day saying they found it and assured me that an extension was filed.Fast forward July, 3rd, I was called and told they were ready to sign.I went in and signed my tax form and expected to write checks for due taxes. After signing the forms I was handed a sheet that stated my due taxes and was told I would be billed from the taxing entities themselves. I have always paid my taxes at the time of signing in the past and the tax preparer submitted my payments for me. I stated this and they took my payments. (I will state that my payments were sent to the proper taxing entities.) I was told again at this time that there was an extension in place. Also the accountant who was having me sign the form seemed very nervous about something. About a month later I received a letter from the Idaho State Tax Commission saying I owed fines and penalties. No explanation on what they were for. I took the letter to Platform and was told they would look into it and CALL ME BACK. Also told again at that time the there were extensions in place. The've never called back. About another month later I get another letter from the ISTC AND the IRS both stating I'm receiving fines and penalties for late filing and payment of my taxes even though I had "extensions" in place. I'm giving these guys 1 star because they appear to have prepared my tax form correctly. There "service" sucks. The problem is they have no office manager to keep clients info straight and relevant. That is a MUST for any company that deals with customers financial data.
