I used Parasol as an umbrella company for 3 months. Parasol is extremely attentive and helpful during the sales process. However, the minute you have your first contract (even as a first-time contractor) you're on your own. They are slow to react and are not proactive when you have issues. They are fine as an intermediary between you and the agency/client, but do nothing to assist their 'employees' - especially first-timers. The money is good and they do an OK job explaining your payslips. However, their online portal is horrible and not mobile-friendly and the team doesn't really seem to care about their 'employees.'

Terrible company to deal with, they don't explain their fees or services properly then take half your wages with no clear explanation. When you complain you get told different things by different people. Still none the wiser to where my hard earned cash is going and I've written in again for a formal written explanation. This will be my 5th email and still none of it has been properly explained. I worked 21 days last month and 14 days this month but came out with almost the same money. How can that be correct? Very poorly run business, stay well clear unless you like throwing away money.

Messy communication, misleading information (depending on the person you speak to), doesn't seem to know what they're doing. Processes take ages.

Having submitted my Maternity form to parasol, they had confirmed my eligibility for payment, suggested earliest leave dates which i followed and confirmed how much maternity pay i would receive and when. Having received confirmation that my leave would start in October and pay would commence from November, just two weeks before due payment i received an email from parasol payroll to say that i am no longer entitled to any payment at all! I am due to give birth in 8 weeks now and Parasol have decided to go back on their decision and confirmations of maternity pay and entitlement. I am extremely stressed and left in the dark with regards to how i will cope over the following months until i return to work. Avoid this company at all costs, there are many other reliable companies out there who's fees are lower and services are worth investing in!

I am happy I used Parasol as my umbrella company. In my time with them, I had nothing to complain about compared with giant umbrella company which was a terrible experience. I was most impressed with Parasol's fast /same day payment and customer service. I will use Parasol for future contracts.
