The person who said they treat people like trash is exactly right. I called to ask a question and kept getting cut off before I could even ask it. The woman just kept going "if you need it again the phone number is..." without even allowing me to ask the question that did NOT have anything to do with what she kept repeating at me, preventing me from even using their services. Calling the govt directly is actually somehow easier than working with these horrendous people.

One- Stop Career Center has been very successful providing all type of employment opportunities for anyone who is looking for work. The career center along with the training provided for all individuals have ensure that anyone that comes to them looking for help getting a job and any other assistance that the career advisers will go above and beyond to assist. However, they have to deal with tons of disrespect from individuals and still maintain a positive attitude when dealing with the public. I actual prefer working with the particular center because they really do fight for their residents to have employment in the city of Newark and outside the city as well. Please do not make a decision based off of a negative comment and or experience, until you have went actually visit the site. I can almost guarantee that the ones that trying to tear down a organization that is actual fighting to ensure work is being presented to the city of Newark residents are the ones that will not complete there paperwork; and or complete the entire free training class to prepare you for a interview. there's a saying help me, help you. Please keep in mind that when people have to deal with the public, it's not easy. However, i was never disrespected and always helped even if it was just for a referral to a company that maybe looking for help! Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. But, we need to stop tearing down the ones who actually want to see people win! # 2018 Growth and Success

They offer no references to resources for assistance. And they specialize in telling you what you are not eligible for. What you cannot get assistance with. And what they cannot do for you. It is the absolute worst place ever.

I came to Newark One Stop for a tuition waiver and spent 6 hours there. The counselors have very very poor communication with the clients. It seems that everyone works their schedule around the counselors. They spend hours talking and mingling with each other and spend at least 5 minutes with their clients. The counselors take lunch whenever and have you wait for hours. Additionally, they help you get a job which means any jobs which can range from $9/hr to $16/hr. For you to get a job in your field require time and a lot of initiative on your part. Other than that, you have to be very proactive and flexible when coming here. You have to ask them every question, even the simplest question otherwise, they won’t give you a complete answer. My first day there, a woman told me she had 2 kids and came here for a job and to finish her nursing degree. She confided in me that the counselors advised her to get a $9/hr job. I couldn’t believe it. How can she support her kids off Fedex $9/hr and go to school? She couldn’t and that’s why she came back. She needed a better job. Newark One Stop need to demand higher wages for their clients. It’s absolurely insulting and disrespectful to advise someone to take a $9/hr job when they worked 5 yrs in a restaurant setting. As for me, I will continue to come back for assistance with my tuition waiver but I hope they improve their communication and respect toward their client along with demanding increase in wages for clients. Let’s work to move Newark forward not stagnant.
