I had the opportunity to freelance for a few companies in another country. Fresh out of college, I had no idea where to start, so I did what everyone else would do in such situation, and just Googled it. Within a few minutes I discovered justaccountants.co.uk, a website that recommends specialised accountants, and later that afternoon I was contact by Glenn Fisher from Carpenter Box.I felt extremely out of my depth, and had to take everything one step at a time, from company registration, IR-35, VAT, to tax returns, to dividends/salary, expenses (what and was wasn't a rewrite-off), you name it, I didn't know about it. Glenn took the time to explain everything in the most simple way as possible, produced some awesome spreadsheets which helped me plan my finances, basically how to run a business. As a one-man-band, I genuinely considered Glenn an extension to my company, and him (and Carpenter Box) are the reason why I was able to run a business for the past 4 years, they went above and beyond to answer every question I had. Everything I needed to do was online, any paperwork was uploaded and shared on their portal, I'd sign everything electronically, and anything I didn't understand, they were always responsive over email and phone.I wholeheartedly recommend Carpenter Box (and specifically Glenn and Nathan) to anyone who wants to experience starting their own company and accounts, regardless of experience, they really made me feel like I knew what I was doing, and I felt comfortable with everything they'd recommend.
