We arrived late in the evening, reception was lit like a crypt with 3 people staring at us as we walked into reception. I felt as if I was walking into the Headteachers office! Check in was pretty slow, in the end the 3 staff crowded around …Read more on TripAdvisor

Feedback:

I stayed for 5 days on a juice detox package. This part was well coordinated and communicated by Maria. The juices were nice and fresh and on time. I had a healthy breakfast, 3 juices throughout the day and a soup in the evening. The juices should have been 500ml each but they weren’t they were (250ml), neither were fruit /herbal teas readily available and always had to be requested. When you are fasting you should have fruit teas freely available. The juice program itself is generally fine if this is what you want from the trip but so many other things really were not so great. To stay at Lighthouse either as a Spa Day visitor or hotel guest, it is in my opinion ridiculously overpriced for what you get. The place (apart from the beautiful grounds) is tired and in places shabby with grubby walls. The general public areas are chilly and cold especially if you are sitting around in a fluffy robe. the doors of the bar and lounge area frequently opening to the outdoors. There are not enough seats in the bar area when it is busy. The Spa itself was like a public council run swimming pool and scummy with towels left everywhere and often no loungers nor seats left. I didn’t ever go in the pool as every time I looked at it, it looked just grimy, dirty and overused. Certainly not in any way luxurious.Consequently I had time filling my days as I just didn’t feel I wanted to use the Spa which is after all the main feature of the property! The changing rooms are very disconnected from the Spa wet area which means a chilly walk through the main corridor past the bar to the changing rooms. Again these were cold. On the whole the changing rooms were reasonably clean but I rarely saw anyone either in the spa or changing rooms maintaining them especially given the sheer volume of people using the place every single day.The treatments are ludicrously overpriced with many young clearly inexperienced therapists straight out of their level 2 or 3 delivering the treatments So pretty limp wristed. Also check the timings of the treatments. You should pay for the minutes you receive yet one 30 massage only lasted 20 mins. When I questioned this I was told that this was for a consultation before and a post treatment discussion - in actual fact they should know your health history as you will have signed your health declaration at the beginning of your stay - there was just a tardy time-wasting delay to start the treatments and they finished early So the therapist could waste even more time fetching you a glass of water ...... at some treatments costing almost Β£2 per minute this is entirely cheeky and not fair.My bedroom was very comfortable but did not have a fridge and weirdly did not have any drawers to put things. I did like my room very much especially the view. The service in the bar is slow and tables are slow to be cleared by guests having tea. The staff are however very polite and really seem to do their best.I’ve travelled to Spas and retreats all over the world for the past 8 years and this is one I wouldn’t return to as the spa itself is old, grubby, overused and unappealing. Overall the place is extremely expensive for treatments and overpriced for a tired bland spa facility. On a positive because of the stunning grounds, the good classes and my comfy room and tasty juices I will still rate this as a 3 Star.I hope as a salon owner myself, this review is seen as balanced and constructive by the management. It is simply an honest reflection of my experience at LifeHouse Spa and Hotel and with a total revamp and rethink I’m sure the Spa could be at the standard it advertises itself to be at.

Had an amazing 1 night stay, room was perfect with a gorgeous view, spotlessly clean. Spa was fantastic, very relaxing. I loved the relaxation room, was lovely and peaceful. I had a superb massage by Perry, he was so professional and my treatment was probably the best I’ve ever had.

Very quiet and relaxing. The grounds are beautiful. The sauna is awesome, with varieties of dry, steam and salt. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
