We have engaged Laus Consulting to file tax return for our rental property in USA for a few years. We sold our US rental property in February this year. They helped us to apply for a FIRPTA withholding certificate with IRS prior closing, which is a very complicated process and requiring liaison with the IRS and coordinating with closing agent. As a result, we got back almost the full amount of the 15% FIRPTA withholding money when the IRS approved the withholding certificate application and reduced the withholding requirement to a few hundred dollars in this June.
