A full week after making a detailed sales inquiry, I received a brief, unprofessional email that reads more like a text message. There's no apology for the delay and no sales pitch. They didn't even bother to thank me for my interest in working with them. By contrast, PeopleShare wrote back to me within 11 minutes even though it was 8:44 at night.

I was placed as a substitute teacher at Northley Middle School in Aston, PA, about 8 months after having had spinal fusion surgery. The secretaries changed my assignment each time I went in, although it was not the assignment I'd signed up for, and one day, the secretary assigned me to substitute in a gym class playing volleyball. I was alarmed because I knew I would have trouble doing this and I said so, but she reassured me that all I'd have to do was stand around and be an extra set of eyes. The gym teacher who was there--I didn't even know one was there until I got to the gym--as the secretary never said there was another teacher there--told me that I should just stand around and be an extra set of eyes. I said very little about having had spinal fusion surgery and the fact that I was still having nerve pain in my leg, left over from the slipped vertebra which had been pressing on my sciatic nerve, causing my entire leg to go numb. I should have said something but I thought the gym teacher knew. I could not stand for too long, but I could not sit for too long either, so I got a chair after awhile and sat down, then stood up, sat down, walked around, and repeated this the whole day. At no time did anyone say anything to me. Then the staffing rep from Kelly called a day or so later and said that the assistant principal told me not to return because I had spent 90 percent of the day sitting around and it was a gym class. I responded that if they knew I had a disability (temporary but still present) with my back, then why on earth did they assign me to be a gym teacher??? She said how sorry she was that this had happened but I was furious. At no time did they go to bat for me or anything. They then placed me in another position as an ELL teacher, going to four different schools and for far less money than I had been making at that other assignment. I couldn't even pay my rent. I have since moved out of PA to TN to be closer to family. I would not recommend Kelly Educational Staffing based on this experience.
