I love my CPA! A friend of mine who lives in South Carolina recommended her CPA John B Lane to me for my tax preparation. I live in California and I'm used to paying California prices for tax preparation. John charges about half of the minimum charge of any CPA firm I've found in San Francisco. I have never had any issues using them from out of state. They have a secure system for uploading documents, the staff responds to emails and calls promptly. No need to see anyone in person. The first year they did my taxes I spoke with John, I explained my situation and he had me send my three prior years returns that I had done with online software. He found several mistakes and my returns were redone and I got about $5000 back from each year. Not bad. Since then I work with one of his associates Tina who is fabulous. Also, I like the service. Every now and then I call or email with a basic question about taxes and they always respond promptly. They don't charge for a call here and there. They are just good people who offer a fair price for good quality service. Cant' recommend them enough!

As a small business owner I tried doing my own taxes for a while but it was at best, time consuming. So I hired a CPA, I felt like I was paying way too much in taxes. So I met with John Lane, he found a bunch of mistakes that the other CPA made and I was right, I was paying too much in taxes! The other CPA forgot to factor in my mileage which was significant at 30k+ miles a year!John is super knowledgable and what I would call a tax geek, which is exactly the kind of guy I want doing my taxes! He's totally worth the piece of mind that I get, I don't worry about taxes anymore!

Inept and unprofessional at best, this CPA does not need to be in service. For years, I was never given a K-1 by John B Lane as the partner in a business, not knowing that this needed to be filed. Only after firing the firm and finding a more reputable CPA did I find this out, resulting in the loss of thousands dollars.Please, do yourself a favor and never use their services. If you are a client, take your past tax filings and returns to another CPA for analysis.
