I was first hired as a contractor through Aerotek at Employment Screening Services (ESS) in July 2014. When I first heard I was going to be placed here I did not know much about it so I googled the company and saw they did background checks on people. I thought, hmmm, I get to snoop into people, WIN! When I had my interview with the HR Manager I got a really great vibe. I got a family oriented vibe (little did I know it was a small family owned business). When I went through training, it was just me and boy was it intense. There was so much information to learn and so many processes to understand because we are regulated under the FCRA. When I got my first report I was so nervous because I didn’t want to screw up. Also, I realized that what I was doing (reporting back information that was discovered with employment, education and reference checks) would help the clients make hiring decisions for these people. It was a lot of pressure and I was so unsure of myself. My manager did the best she could to reassure me that I was doing a good job, but I always second guessed myself. My boss that trained me gave me the tools to be able to process these reports, actually, correction she spoon fed me the tools to process reports for ESS. Through the support of my great managers, colleagues AND owners of the company I have been able to continue to process background screenings successfully since 2014. We are always laughing and having fun. Are there stressful busy times, of course! But what company is not like that?! This company has given me a new life. The owners of the company do not act like “owners,” they act like your co-workers that want to help you succeed! I have never experienced this in all the other employers I have had. The managers and owners and colleagues are amazing. I am given smiles, conversations, free breakfast, free lunches, bonuses and relationships that I am forever grateful for!! The owners and the managers will talk to you and interact with you because they want to, because they care about you, because they want you to succeed in business and in life. What company does this??? I have never experienced, as I have said, anything like this before. Prime example; my father recently passed away (note my mom had also passed 5 years prior to my Dad passing) and I called my Manager to let her know I would not be in the following day because I needed to go to Minnesota. The next thing I knew, the owners were calling me, sending me text messages and were offering love and support during this difficult time with NO expectations of receiving something in return. This company allowed me to take a week and a half off from work no questions asked to be able to handle my father’s affairs back in Minnesota and when I returned I was showered with love and support from everyone in the company. I have loved working with this small family owned organization. I have been blessed to have been employed here since 2014 and excited to continue my employment here. I would recommend this place to anyone with strong computer, communication and multi-tasking skills. The owners, managers and team members are some of the greatest people I have met. Giving this company 5 stars does not do them justice. They are worth more stars than I can imagine with the great people that run and support this company.

I just recently resigned from this company after almost a year of employment. The work environment is one of the most negative I’ve ever experienced and is the main reason I left. Management lead with a “My way or the highway” kind of attitude. Sexual harassment became enough of a problem to force the company to go through sexual harassment training. Any time-off or sick leave that was requested was almost always met with disapproval as if you were letting the company down. Their employee turnover rate is extremely high as well; I was hired with 11 other employees and by the time I left, they had let go/fired all but three of us. They support a “hire and fire” strategy, rather than effectively working with the struggling employees. The program they use is equally as problematic, with only one programmer who hardly answered his phone.

Feedback:

I was hired as a temp and was let go for bogus reasons. They said it wasnt working out for me and that I was hard to work with?!?! REALLY?!?!?!- even though I had submitted 6 reports (more than anyone else in my class) and gotten good remarks from the trainer about my performance. My trainer even assured me that I was a full time employee and that I had nothing to worry about. WTH?!?!
