These individuals are NOT CPA's. They have botched our taxes 2 years in a row now. Last year they informed us on Tax Day they filed an extension for us (illegal..preparers are obligated to ask first). Weeks later they did our taxes and the number did not make sense. We reviewed them and found out he left some critical deductions out that were provided to them. Upon spending more time on the phone with them, I was not happy, again, and they said they'd redo the numbers. I knew we would qualify for some credits and deductions but they NEVER asked us typical questions a tax firm would ask to determine this. We took them NOT to file our taxes yet. We took our taxes to a CPA and within a couple days they interviewed us and saved us roughly $4,000.00. All they did was utilize the same provided information and spend 20 mins interviewing us on the phone to see if we qualified for various credits or deductions. So we go back to tell Rich Rader that we are going to have our CPA be our new accountant and he informs us they already filed our taxes (illegal). So we had our new CPA amend the filings and it ended up saving us money. All the while I had to spend hours dealing with Rich Rader and his firms ineptness. This year I figured we moved past that firm and never had to deal with that again. This last month I get a letter from The Ohio Department of Taxation for 2 YEARS AGO! Apparently when Rich Rader did our taxes from two years ago he failed to put key information on one of lines. This caused us to get a penalty and owe another $300. I reached out to him and stated how I'm very frustrated with this... .again. I said I'd like the interest/penalty and a refund of our fee we paid them from two years ago. He simply just sent me the penalty fee. Eccles & Rader Tax Group are NOT ethical or knowledgeable regarding taxes. Every time they discuss their mistakes it involves excuses. I feel others need to be aware of this before they spend their money and trust them with their finances. Turbo Tax is cheaper, faster, and more detailed. If you have an elaborate financial situation GET A CPA. They do not work for you, they take your money and simply fill out forms. And even those contain errors.
