The polygraph is basically a pseudoscience and no different than tea-leaf readings in so many words. The fact of the matter is, you can tell the truth beforehand or during the polygraph and still be concluded as being deceptive. The passing of the polygraph really comes down to the decision of the person administering it. As in my case, at the end of the test, the investigator shut off the recording equipment and asked me where I was from. I explained to him where I was from and he then gave me a sob story about how he once had someone of the same ethnic heritage as me borrow money from him, but then was never paid back. It was then implied to me in so many words that people from my country are no good. I then explained to him that I had been administered a polygraph by that same company before and was considered as non-deceptive previously(before my entrance to the police academy in order to be accepted in to the Police Academy). He retorted that he made a mistake and laughed, by such unprofessional behavior, it was obvious to me that he was in fact bias against people from the country of which I was born.I also want to add that I can recall quite clearly at one point during the test, the man administering the test asked me a question three times and was barely understandable due to his thick accent. I didn't understand what his question was until the third time which made me nervous because I didn't understand what he was saying. Anyway, to sum the test questions all up towards the end, he asked me if I had told the truth during the testing process and I answered the question honestly saying that I did tell the truth. That answer did not indicate deception on the polygraph, so you would think that would be the determining factor as in to concluding if someone had been deceptive or not during the test. Apparently not, after all was said and done, I put a request in for a copy from the employing police agency for the polygraph and saw that he indicated that I was being deceptive according to the polygraph results and should therefore not be selected to proceed further. I also noticed that the proctor did not properly record my responses accurately.I'd like to give my honest opinion based off of the unprofessional conduct of this man Cardenas or whoever he was, that he should be investigated for discrimination and removed from being able to administer such employment based tests. The fact that I was not given another chance to retake the polygraph with someone else after such an incident tells me there is more to the picture than meets the eye and I feel like internal affairs should be brought in to the matter of how that police agency conducts their business or with who they conduct their business for the most part.

The service was fine, they did their job, however the proctor for my examination did not seem to want to be there or like me at all, This being said he did not properly explain to me the procedures that I was to go through. This being said I was taken by surprise and felt harassed and trapped near the end of the test. That and the proctor failed to record my responses as i had said them or even in his own words. They were incorrectly documented. In addition to this they had me sign the paperwork giving consent to do a polygraph after the test. Not before the test. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I only went because it was a requirement for my employment, to which I did not get the job and the results of the failed polygraph is public record so it will stay with me.
