Feedback:

Great experience! Everyone was kind, helpful and professional. My taxes were done quickly and I was happy to get money back!

Feedback:

Although when we first met, Charlotte essentially made me feel awful for having a master's degree and not making enough money, (thanks for making me feel like a complete failure), while pointing out the obvious and pushing Dave Ramsey on us for about 10 minutes....they did a great job on our taxes and were quick and efficient. One of the CPA's, Chis, was friendly and very helpful. Tax service itself was great. Psychological analysis...not so much.

Feedback:

Let me start by saying sorry for the long post. I had a very complicated tax year coming so I did a ton of research on who to go to for help, the reviews looked great and based on research I decided Johnston & Assoc was the place to go. Speaking to them on the phone before my first appointment they told me to gather all the documents I could for all the items I needed to go through. I went for my first appointment and immediately I felt confused. It seemed I had to go over everything again but Charlotte only scheduled 30 mins for people to come in to drop off paperwork plus go over things. People were being rushed in and out. I could also tell when it came to pricing that it was a well "how about this number" which at the time I was OK with paying because this year was such a mess I just wanted it done right. So I left and the whole way home I remember thinking I didn't get to talk about this and this... Sure enough we had to go through a series of emails and phone conversations where I then had to explain what I couldn't explain that day because i was rushed out the door. But sometimes I would get no responses for voicemails or emails. I would speak to Charlotte and get everything straight with her then find out someone else in the office it trying to handle this but they know nothing. Finally when it was done I pick up the work and when I get home to start reviewing it I notice a mistake in the numbers. So I called and had to run back for them to fix it and reprint pages. OK no big deal. Then I turn everything in and 8 months later I get a letter from my local tax office saying I didn't pay enough, I owe more. Also there was a law passed and those who pay local taxes over a certain amount now have to pay estimated taxes for the next year. I have two weeks to pay the difference I missed and till Dec 15th to pay my year of estimated taxes without getting a penalty which I should have been advised of these estimated taxes by my tax accountant. I go back to Charlotte to see if both these are true. Yep, their computer or software made a mistake and I do owe more. Also yep I should have been advised of the estimated tax stuff. Then they just dismissed it like it was no big deal. That was it. I have no problem paying what I owe. But last minute out of nowhere for a single mother is a BIG deal. To make matters worse I then get a letter in Dec of 2016 from the local tax department saying they now want me to pay a penalty because when Charlotte was also doing my taxes and she did the online portion she didn't hit submit so it looks like she never turned them in online so now I have this to deal with. It's been a nightmare and I paid them a lot of money. Just last week I received an email with a letter attached from them asking me to sign and date it. It was an engagement letter for this years’ service that I did not request. When I replied back stating the many reasons why I would never sign this letter and to take me off their email list I received a response that had nothing to do with any issues that I had. Clearly they had no idea or remembered or took the time to look up the emails (search by my name) to see what the issues were before they responded. So sorry for the long post but this is my experience.
