Marie and Ashley are very skilled at what they do. They take the time to guide you through each process, answer questions you may have regarding bookkeeping, all while keeping you up to date on the newest laws & regulations. We find it quite pleasant working with Accounting Specialists. Being business owners ourselves we appreciate their professionalism, expertise and guidance. We would certainly recommend their firm to others in our community.

This is a cautionary tale! I started using Accounting Specialists in 2015 both for my business and personal taxes. They were okay the first year, but worse every year since. I sold my business with commercial property in 2017, and Marie gave me very conflicting advice on my tax implications. She was extremely difficult to get answers from either by email or verbally. Sometimes I would ask the same thing repeatedly before getting very clipped responses via email.This year, I gave her all my documentation before mid March in order to avoid yet another extension. She never touched it until 3-4 days prior to the due date. When she did get it done, she did not want to even discuss the return, saw no need to go over anything. This summer I gave all my information from the last 3 years to a real CPA. I now have his personal record for the most money recovered for filing amended returns, over $60K! This is not an exaggeration. Marie did not file my S corp information correctly, failed to account for $200K in building cost basis, failed to use previous depreciation schedules, etc, etc. My CPA said it was both lack of knowledge and sloppiness.He also gave me an education in the title of "accounting" and a true CPA. Apparently, you can call yourself an "accounting firm" when you have NO formal education at all! Marie may be able to do some basic bookkeeping, but her firm is NOT competent for any tax work beyond simple returns. She is definitely NOT a real accountant!

As a small business owner I rely heavily on Marie and her team's knowledge and experience. They are always friendly and helpful even when there is a problem due to my mistake. Our business wouldn't be growing as fast and as profitably without Accounting Specialists, highly recommended!

I cannot recommend Accounting Specialists of Asheville enough! Marie Young is a kind, patient, and compassionate individual and a skilled, thoroughly competent accountant. I believe she also travels extensively to teach other professionals in the field. Her business is a true family affair, as her husband greeted me when I came in and took care of the front of house duties. If you want to support local business, good people, and get the best accounting advice available, I highly recommend Marie and her staff!

Marie advised me on many issues, left no stone unturned for my tax return, and completed the return in just a few days. Her professional expertise alone recommends her. Additionally, she conducted herself with tremendous cheer, patience and courtesy, and explains things extremely clearly.

I could not say enough how pleased I am with Accounting Specialist. Marie was very patient and explained everything in great detail. Marie is constantly up to date on new tax laws which is very reassuring. I can not say one negative thing about this place.

I had made an appointment being a 1st time customer and on the phone the receptionist. Being a new 1st time client, the 1st half hour was free. I thought, great! I had just moved from Ohio and had a great accounting company I was working with for 15years so I was looking to stay on that route here as well. I had sat down with Ashley, who was very nice, but their system was acting up and she couldn't pull up certain codes for Ohio. Thought that was kind of unprofessional...was this the 1st time they worked with someone from out of state? Red flag. I was there for only 30minutes and she couldn't give me my exact tax return number because of the code issue so they were going to get back to me in a few days. But, when they did, they were trying to charge me $265 for the tax "service" fee that I was told was going to be FREE the 1st half hour. Also, my final (total) tax return was less than $500... They were trying to charge me half my tax return and lied about the 1st 30minutes free!!! Furious!!! And the couldn't even give me an explanation on why....I was getting back $1200 plus and my accountant was only charging me $100.Seems to be a little disconnect with Accounting Specialist and their communications.DO NOT GO THERE!!!

Knowledge, experience and excellence are the best words to describe this business. I wouldn't rely on any other accounting firm. I am very grateful for the years of expert service that I have received.
