Beware of Brad Filmanowicz, he puts no pride into his work. He never resolved any of his mistakes he made with our records, even after he was fully paid!

If I could give this company minus stars I would. Stay away, as all Brad Filmanowicz wants to do is take your money. Accountants are suppose to help you, not hurt you!In our case Brad did not help us...... our taxes were done incorrectly and had already put in for three extensions due to this firms inability to get it right the first time!! When we asked for an explanation of his services and the crazy expensive fees to date, Brad got loud and rude as he scolded us on not understanding what he did. He then demanded full payment before he would correct our taxes. He also had the nerve to threaten to report us to the Government for some made up illegal transaction he said we did. With all the time he wasted with his nonsense explanations we had to seek help elsewhere. So, not only did we have to pay for these services again but we also had to pay to correct all the errors he and his firm made to our computer records. Even though we were granted the extensions to "file" our taxes late, us along with the other shareholders of our company were still hit with heavy penalties for "paying" late. Stay away!!!

My company’s experience with Brad Filmanowicz was a disappointing endeavor in which created more work for me and my team. Please read this review in its entirety so you (and your company) can avoid this disastrous person. Unfortunately, we did not do any research in regards to his business ethics prior to hiring him. To start, he immediately pressed his “book” onto us, and insisted we read it. As if it was the golden key to unlock all of our questions & solve every problem. So we bought it and read it. To say the least, it sounded like a poorly written pamphlet from a child, that didn’t even get the proper attention of an editor. Additionally, the info was basic, repetitive, and did absolutely no good for us. Waste of money & time. (It’s an eBook.) Regardless, we pressed on and ATTEMPTED to get our company’s issues addressed. Brad did NOTHING but give us the runaround and let his assistant continually do the same. We were straightforward in asking Brad Filmanowicz from the beginning as to what he could do for us and our financial affairs at hand. All that seemed to excite him was his fascination with chatting obsessively about making us CFO’s. We told Brad what we were hiring him for, and becoming CFO’s was absolutely not what we needed help with. We highly regret bringing him into our business. (Figuratively and literally.) He was not just ineffective and unfocused, but he was also verbally abusive. After getting the runaround for several months we invited Brad to our office to discuss the balance sheets and Quick Books. He was extremely unprofessional; he became loud, uncontrollable, and verbally harassed two of my office employees. One of my employees had asked Brad a question about Quick Books in which she honestly did not know the answer to. He completely flipped out. He used the “F” word, he called us names, made racial slurs, and he started stampeding around our office which actually took me off guard almost as much as his inappropriate hollering. I think we all felt embarrassed & confused as this grown man pounced around in complete pandemonium. I asked Brad to settle down and to take a seat. He took the opportunity to quickly approach me with a puffed out chest as if to signal he wanted to spar. I was so taken off guard, I was speechless. Luckily, one of my elders in the office stood up and told Brad to take a hike! It was surely a scene from the Jerry Springer show. We were left with our mouths open to the floor as Mr. Filmanowicz stomped out of our office cursing obscenities and having a tantrum. In hindsight, I see that he was only concerned with getting his own (highly inflated) paycheck while doing utterly NO WORK. We ended up having to hire ANOTHER certified public accountant (this time a real firm, rather than just a single human entity), and they couldn’t believe how badly Brad Filmanowicz botched our statements, and it created much more work in order to fix his wrong doings. His business ethics are, frankly, nonexistent. Not only is he uneducated in accounting, he’s oblivious on how to treat other human beings. I am appalled at his lack of standards, and more so his unconcern for others. After his irate episode in our presence, he continued to harass us through a barrage of emails. These emails are inappropriate and entail Brad threatening to expose our company’s finances, and he’s also concocted a story in which we are conducting illegalities. I cannot recommend this CPA. In fact, I’m filing a complaint with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation and the AICPA. Thank you

Brad Filmanowicz and his team at 1st Chicago accounting has been working for our companies for over 10 years. The charges are small relative to the assistance he has delivered. They are like partners in our business. They also do our personal taxes, usually requiring extensions and often at the last minute. They understand the stress and pressure involved in running a small business and being an entrepreneur. Thanks for all your hard work and help guys!

Without Brad and his team at 1st Chicago Accounting, my business would not have been possible. He was always available to take my calls and responsive. But more important, he was an expert. I recently left the private sector, but still use Brad for my personal accounting. I expect he will be my accountant for life. I highly recommend him.

As a long-term client of 1st Chicago and having availed ourselves of most of their services over the years, I can attest that they are professional, responsive and "nimble". -They get great results, and quickly. They have also saved us a LOT of money over the years, and are pleasant to work with.
