Our experience with Ivan wasn't a positive one. We had multiple W2's that crossed several states. Ivan was aware of this when he took us on as clients. The initial process was smooth, we met, gave him our paperwork, he completed the tax forms (correctly so we thought), we gave him our $350 payment, and he submitted our tax forms. Our federal taxes went through without a problem, however out state income taxes were a complete mess! After a delay in receiving our state refund, we contacted Ivan to follow up. He explained we needed to speak with the state directly, rather than him serving as a middleman. After reviewing with the State, we realize there were filing errors on our part. We reached out to Ivan to rectify the mistake, and he said he would. After two weeks the mistakes still weren't completed. We had to reach out several times and formats to inquire about the status or our correction. The first time he explained he was injured and would finish them within a week. Two weeks later we reach out, and he gave us the excuse that he needed new software to file for the previous state we resided. Within that week he emailed us that based on the correction we would owe rather than receive a refund. We realize he was missing a W2 and that might be why his calculation was off, however from this point Ivan entirely stopped communicating with us. He hasn’t answered our calls, responded to text or emails. Throughout the process, communication has been slow but became difficult and non existent towards the end. Our State taxes for one of the three states we live in still haven't been completed, and Ivan hasn’t take the time to return the call or complete the service we’ve paid him for. While I understand that our needs were unique and complex we were very clear about what we needed during our phone meeting and in-person meeting with Ivan. 4-5 months later our taxes still haven't been completed and we will have to seek out another organization to do so. We simply wanted Ivan to complete the work, or give a partial refund for the state taxes that weren’t completed.
