UPDATE: Ali reached out via phone and email to do her best to make up for our poor previous experience. I appreciate her professionalism in response to criticism and promptly trying to solve the issue at hand. I've updated the score and although we filed with another company, I still believe Ali did an excellent job on our previous year's filing and wish her and her company the best in the future.Went to Acton Accounting last year for a tax return for my partner and I. As other reviewers have mentioned, Ali was not the most pleasant person to deal with. I understand how busy accountants are during tax season, but every business has its hectic time of year so I don't exactly give that much credence as an excuse. We prepped to the best of our abilities, but we were treated pretty dismissively and like we were wasting her time. Nevertheless, we filed with Ali and everything was fine, I'm sure she did a fantastic job.Against my better judgement, we decided to go with Acton Accounting again this year, hoping it would be a less uncomfortable experience. I called to book an appointment a few weeks in advance and spoke to the receptionist, who sounded very confused the entire time we chatted, getting my name wrong several times when confirming my appointment time. About a week later, we had to reschedule to a slightly later date in March (still several weeks away). The receptionist again sounded confused when rebooking me, but seemed to have all of my information down correctly and confirmed we had been rescheduled. I received a call from the same receptionist today (the date of my original appointment) to inform me I had missed our appointment (she called me the wrong name yet again during this interaction). When I pointed out that I had called two weeks before to reschedule, it took several minutes of reminding her before she realized she had spoken to me and just not properly rescheduled the appointment as we had discussed. As this was the only week my partner could get off work, and they were unable/unwilling to fit us in some other time this week, we decided to cut our losses and go with a different company.I generally hate leaving negative reviews, as I don't think they're always representative of how that business usually operates. perhaps you caught them on a bad/busy day, etc. But when you've had 3+ interactions on different dates with the same people and each time is a negative experience, you start to get a little frustrated with it. Cannot say I'd recommend them based on the experiences we've had with them but I'm confident Ali did a good job with our taxes. Just not the easiest company to deal with.
